A staking rewards calculator turns three numbers (how much you stake, the reward rate, and how long you stake) into an estimate of how many coins you'll earn. You can use the free calculator on our crypto staking page to estimate rewards for SOL, ETH, TRX and BNB, or do the maths yourself with the simple formulas below.

This guide shows how the calculation works, which inputs change the result most, and why any estimate is just that: an estimate. If you're new to staking, start with what is crypto staking. This is general information, not financial advice.

How do you calculate staking rewards?

Your wallet You keep your SOL
delegate
Validator Runs the node, takes a small fee
secures
Blockchain Confirms blocks, pays rewards
↺ Rewards flow back to your wallet every epoch, minus the validator's commission
How native staking works: your coins never leave your wallet. You delegate their weight.

The basic yearly formula is:

Rewards ≈ Amount staked × Reward rate × (1 − Commission)

Example: you stake 100 SOL at a 7% gross rate with a validator that charges 5% commission.

100 × 0.07 × 0.95 = 6.65 SOL per year, before compounding.

For a period shorter than a year, multiply by the fraction of the year:

Rewards ≈ Amount × Rate × (1 − Commission) × (Days ÷ 365)

So 100 SOL for 90 days at the same rates earns roughly 6.65 × 90 ÷ 365 ≈ 1.64 SOL.

APR vs APY: why compounding matters

  • APR is the simple yearly rate, with no compounding.
  • APY includes compounding: rewards that are added to your stake and earn rewards of their own.

The conversion is:

APY = (1 + APR ÷ n)^n − 1

where n is how many times rewards compound per year.

Network How rewards compound What it means
Solana Automatically, every epoch (~2–3 days) APY slightly above APR
Ethereum Automatically, as rewards build up in your position APY slightly above APR
BNB Chain Automatically, into the validator pool APY slightly above APR
Tron Only when you claim and vote again You compound as often as you claim

At 7% APR compounded every epoch, Solana works out to roughly 7.25% APY. Over one year the difference is small; over many years it adds up. Full explanation: staking APY vs APR explained.

What inputs does a staking calculator need?

  1. Coin and amount. How many coins you'll stake.
  2. Reward rate. The current estimated rate for that network. Typical recent ranges: SOL ~5–8%, TRX ~3–5%, ETH ~2–4%, BNB ~1–3%. Rates change; use the live figure in the app.
  3. Commission or fee. The validator's cut (non-custodial) or the provider's fee (custodial).
  4. Time. How long you'll stake.
  5. Compounding. Whether rewards restake automatically.
  6. Coin price (optional). To turn coins into dollars. This is the least predictable input.

Example estimates for SOL, ETH, TRX and BNB

Here's what $1,000 worth of each coin might earn in coins over one year, at an illustrative mid-range rate after a 5% commission and ignoring compounding.

Coin Illustrative rate Net yearly reward (after 5% commission) Approx. value if price stays flat
SOL 7% 6.65% ~$66
TRX 4% 3.8% ~$38
ETH 3% 2.85% ~$29
BNB 2% 1.9% ~$19

Examples only, not offers. Real rates, commissions and prices change. The dollar value of the reward will depend on the coin's price when you receive it.

Why your real rewards may differ from the estimate

A calculator gives you the best case for a given rate. In reality:

  • Rates move. Network rates change with total stake, fees and issuance.
  • Activation and unbonding time don't earn. Stake that's still activating, or is unstaking, usually earns nothing.
  • Validator performance varies. Missed blocks or downtime mean lower rewards. See how to choose a staking validator.
  • Fees cut in. On Ethereum, gas for staking and unstaking can be significant for small amounts.
  • Tron needs claiming. If you don't claim and re-vote, Tron rewards don't compound.
  • Price changes everything in dollars. A 7% reward on a coin that drops 30% is still a loss in dollar terms.

How to use the Virtex staking rewards calculator

  1. Go to the crypto staking page and find the calculator.
  2. Choose a coin: SOL, ETH, TRX or BNB.
  3. Enter how much you want to stake.
  4. Review the estimated rate and adjust the time period.
  5. Read the estimate in coins and, if shown, in dollars at today's price.

Treat the result as a planning tool, not a promise. Then, before you stake, check the live rate, commission and unstaking time shown in Virtex Wallet.

Does staking for longer earn more?

Yes, in coins. Rewards add up the longer you stake, and with automatic compounding each reward starts earning too. Using the same 6.65% net example on 100 SOL with a flat rate:

Time staked Approx. coins earned (simple) Approx. with compounding
1 year 6.65 ~6.9
3 years 19.95 ~22
5 years 33.25 ~39

Illustrative only. Rates won't stay flat for years, and network inflation schedules change over time.

How much do I need to stake to earn $100 a month?

You can work backwards:

Amount needed ≈ Target yearly reward ÷ (Rate × (1 − Commission))

$100 a month is $1,200 a year. At an illustrative 6.65% net rate, you'd need roughly $1,200 ÷ 0.0665 ≈ $18,000 staked, if the coin's price stays flat. In practice the coin's price will move, so your monthly dollar income won't be steady. This is why staking is best seen as growing a coin position, not as a salary.

Is the calculator result guaranteed?

No. Staking rewards are set by each network and change constantly. No calculator can predict future rates or prices. Before deciding, read is crypto staking worth it? for an honest look at rewards versus price risk.

Common questions

How accurate are staking rewards calculators?

They're accurate for the inputs you give them, but rates, commissions and prices change. Use the result as a rough estimate.

How are staking rewards calculated daily?

Divide the yearly reward by 365. For example, 6.65 SOL a year is about 0.018 SOL a day. On Solana, rewards actually arrive once per epoch rather than daily.

Does the calculator include compounding?

Check the calculator's settings. Solana, Ethereum and BNB compound automatically; Tron only compounds when you claim and re-vote.

Why is my actual reward lower than the calculator showed?

Common reasons are a lower live rate, higher commission, time spent activating or unbonding, or validator downtime.

Are staking rewards taxable?

In many countries, yes, as income when received. See are staking rewards taxable. This is not tax advice.
